A once in a lifetime vacation is how people describe their stay at any of the Riu Hotels in Cancun. These five star hotel resorts are situated along the beachfront providing breathtaking views of the Caribbean sea. Their all-inclusive option provides non-stop activities, superb food and a service which will have you coming back each year.

The Hotel Riu Cancun is a 14 storey building with 569 beautifully decorated rooms, most of which have an oceanview. It has four restaurants and five bars, including a swim up bar for those hot days when you just don’t want to leave the pool. The Hotel Riu Cancun has three main swimming pools and one childrens pool.

The Hotel Riu Caribes magnificent Mayan-style architecture will leave you in awe before you even enter. It has 506 oceanview guestrooms providing astounding views for those who want to relax inside. There are three restaurants, a pizza café and at least three bars. It has two swimming pools which allow guests to bathe without feeling crowded. It also has a children’s playground and mini-club.

The Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas is beyond five-stars. It has 372 deluxe junior suites and provides a less busy more personal atmosphere. It has six restaurants and four bars providing guests with a wide variety of dining choices. There are two swimming pools, one with a Jacuzzi and the other can be heated during the winter.

The all-inclusive package for these hotels include the following:

Accommodations: The rooms are spotless and your daily room attendant will keep them that way. Don’t be surprised if you come back to your room and find an elephant on the bed!Food: There are buffets with on the spot cooking available three times a day. If you want to eat at the speciality restaurants you are advised to make reservations in advance. The dining wear is formal and twice a week there will be evening theme diners.Sports and activities: This resort will keep the active well entertained. A complimentary scuba diving lesson as well availability of canoes, tennis courts, windsurfing and snorkelling equipment will leave you exhausted. There is also a gym in all three of the hotels (recommended to help burn off those buffet calories!)Unlimited drinks: Your rooms mini bar will be keep well stocked and you can have unlimited drinks while anywhere on the resort, even in the pool!Taxes, gratuities and more…On the hotels website (www.riu.com) I did a price comparison for the first week of July 2008 and these were my results:

Hotel Riu Cancun: $1820 for a standard room with a balcony for two adults

Hotel Riu Caribe: $1660 for a standard room with a balcony for two adults

Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas: $2226 for a junior suite with balcony for two adults

These prizes are subject to change and although I was unsuccessful maybe a deal could be found on a travel site. From the reviews and comments that I have read, nearly all people were more then satisfied with these hotels. If there is someone out there with feedback, feel free to leave a comment and share your experience with other Cancun travellers.
